If soccer folks wanted to nominate a person to receive its “Bad Boy” Award, many of Mario Balotelli's teammates and adversaries would be quick to throw a vote his way. The temperamental Manchester City thug, er, player muscles his way around to earn his current net worth of $6,399,000.
It may be a challenge to hold on to both his position and his money. As a national team member for Italy, his boss, Cesare Prandelli recently left him off a European Cup game roster to warn him of his antics. Balotelli has already received three red cards during the 2012 Premier league season.
That hasn't been his only dust up. In the throws of romance, Balotelli slipped out one night to a nearby strip club before Manchester City was to face rival Bolton. Balotelli busted curfew and caught the ire of the club fans, the press and his girlfriend, underwear model Raffaello Fico, 23. He did score a forgiveness from Raffaella and bounced one in against Bolton on game day. He was fined a hefty 250,000 pounds – that's like $400,000. Sounds like an expensive night out.
The big striker does have great potential as a premier leaguer. His play with Manchester City under revered coach Robert Mancini has made him a fan favorite. He can play any of the front line positions with efficiency. The City fans have been quick to adopt the striker by applauding his audacious nature and singing to him when he is on the pitch.
The mercurial Balotelli sometimes portrays the wildest of wild and at times the kindest of kind. He has been reported to set off fireworks in a pub bathroom and continuously breaking curfew. He has a mountain of parking tickets and throws money at the multiple cars he drives and wrecks. Yet, there are an equal amount of reports where he has secretly donated copious amounts of money to the poor, to churches and those in need. His restlessness may be his downfall.
