Glenn Beck has the ideology of, well, an ideologue. Be sure to classify him as a conservative with libertarian leanings. He surely isn't timid about telling anyone what he believes. That mindset, over the course of his 48 years, has made him a very popular, celebrity on the radio, on broadcast television and in the blogisphere. His popularity and his rye wit reflects in the growing size of his net worth of $241,390,700.
His convictions have been ground out of him through a tumultuous upbringing. His mother reported committed suicide in his early teens. He coped with that as he counseled with “Dr. Jack Daniels.” According to his recollections, he spend the next 15 years on a daily diet of drinking and smoking marijuana every day.
But now that he survived the early rough patches, he relishes those experiences as building the resolve he promotes as a politically conservative on-air personality. Beck hosts a nationally syndicated talk radio show that espouses his convictions and his sentiments. He hosted stints on HLN from 2006 through 2008 and on FOX News Channel as an on air talent with a similar format from 2008 into 2011. No stranger to the pen, Beck has also authored six national best sellers on the New York Times list.
His radio work started very much like others in his field. For 15 years, he toiled at a number of Top-40 radio stations in Texas, Kentucky, Arizona and Maryland. He became known for his acerbic pranks and sharp wit. At times, it got him fired. Ultimately, through some controversial gigs, Glenn landed in Tampa and started the Glenn Beck Program that survives until today.
It didn't take long before his show caught on the national level. Within two years, the show has been picked up in 47 other markets and he was falling in line (barely) behind the likes of Sean Hannity and Rush Limbaugh. His popularity gave him his introduction into the television format with HLN.
Beck makes his television appearance available on his own network now. Called GBTV, Beck continues his daily opinions on the latest in political maneuvers.
