The footprint that Paris Hilton has made as a celebrity may be hard to fill. The run up to attentiondom includes her infamous sex tape with Rick Solomon when she was 19. She has taken advantage of her financial well-being to orchestrate a media machine that has featured her comings and goings in order to highlight her presence.
Ultimately, the public relations strategy has had remarkable results. The heir apparent to the worldwide Hilton Hotel chain has managed to keep her image front and center for nearly a decade. She has even appeared in national television commercials and appeared in guest shots on a few television series. Her notoriety provided her a platform to create a reality series with Nicole Richie that focused on her notoriety.
Along the way though, Paris has branded herself. She owns a cosmetic line and has dabbled with fashion design. She has become a restaurateur in Florida and sampled the life of a musician – actually cutting an album on her own label. She has jetted around the world obtaining paid appearance fees at party after party by endorsing the openings of clubs, restaurants or boutiques.
The notches of men on her belt need an abacus to keep up. Her romances have taken her places with Leonardo DiCaprio, Edward Furlong, Jamie Kennedy, Simon Rex, some Greek shipping heir, Rob Mills, Deryck Whibley, Rober Evans and maybe even Oscar De La Hoya. But hey, she is single. And, we didn't want to venture into the second decade.
One of her best quotes of all time came when she made a visit to a Wal-Mart. She was flabbergasted at the amount of things you could buy there for really, really cheap. But she went there because she though they sold wall paper.
