Even though Kandi Burruss appears in a reality show about housewives in Atlanta nowadays, her talent as successful songwriter has always led her way. As the impetus behind the 1990s R&B band Xscape, Burruss keeps writing songs that tickle the fancy of the masses. Her authorship has gained a Grammy for her songwriting in 2000 that the group TLC sang called No Scrubs.
Her songs have been sung by the biggest recording stars today. She has written for Pink, Mariah Carey, the late Whitney Houston, Boyz II Men, Alicia Keys and Faith Evans. Although her attempt as a solo singing career produced an album from Columbia Records, the reception did not meet her expectation nor those of the label. Her contract with Columbia now only attaches to songs she writes for their other artists.
Burruss has branched out into other lines of enterprise beside song. Her participation in the reality series has been renewed for a fourth season. She has also developed a line of boudoir goods under the brand name Bedroom Kandi. She also has just begun another reality series featuring herself in 2012. The Bravo series is called the Kandi Factory – aimed at spotted the next big singing talent.
Burruss began an ill-fated relationship with Ashley A.J. Jewell right before the Housewives of Atlanta began its run. The tempestuous relationship came to a sudden halt when one evening when her beau was out at the local strip club, he got into a squabble with the manager that ended up in a beat down of A.J. Although the manager has been charged with manslaughter, some of the medical evidence has revealed that A.J. Suffered from another malady that may have been the actually result of his death. Burruss has been able to get over that lost love with a new love interest named Todd.
