Call him triple B if you must, but most folks know Robert Braisford Brown by his stage name Bobby Brown and some of the trials that he and the late Whitney Houston got into during their tumultuous marriage. The actor, singer and sometime dancer drew his initial notoriety as the front man for New Edition. In the early 80s, the band proved popular for a while and had modest success but Brown started to rattle his saber as he believed the all of the band members were being short changed by managed. That got him booted and started on a solo career.
His freshman attempt landed flat. But his follow up album with the popular single 'My Prerogative' sent Brown's stock into the stratosphere. The album 'Don't Be Cruel' included production help from Babyface and Teddy Riley. Together, they assembled an album that captured five singles in the Billboard 100 in 1988 with the Prerogative song hitting No. 1.
Brown stretched his wings and started to venture into writing songs for movies. For Ghostbusters II, he produced and sang two songs. He also made a cameo appearance in the flick. His next two albums didn't do so well, but he was starting to pay more attention to his new love in life – Whitney Houston.
Brown and Whitney share one daughter named Bobbi Kristina. Their relationship is strained. Brown and Houston's marriage had to go through 14 years of Brown's infidelity and numerous rumors that the pair shared drugs together. The couple finally divorced in 2007.
Law enforcement and Bobby Brown has had a long relationship. Starting in 2003, Brown was arrested for the first time after he and Houston got in a fight. He served jail time in Georgia later after he was arrested on a DUI parole violation. For the three strikes and your out charge, Brown was sentenced to serve 90 days in the pokey for missing a number of child support payments. Luckily, he came up with the dough before imprisonment so the court suspended the term.
